Labelling

Dear Webloggers,

Wednesday 8 October, we had a short meeting to discuss the stae of affairs regarding the weblogs.
So far we have seen and read some nice, hilarious and interesting stories. However, a few things can be improved:
- Apparently not all schoolmentors are aware that their students have a weblog. We will stimulate them to give their reactions to you.
- The structure of a lot of the weblogs is still not clear or a bit one-sided. We would like you to split your contributions in 3 parts: Company, interim reports and private life. By using labels/tags you can make the structure much clearer. If you don't know how to do this please contact Ms Eky Fioole.

I hope you enjoy your time abroad,

Joost Frencken

Structure weblog

Dear ASIS bloggers,

So far, very interesting, funny, informing, moving, scary etc. stories have been published in the various weblogs of the participating workplacement students.
But of course, we have some comments and requests (we wouldn’t be no teachers if we hadn’t any comments, would we?).
First of all, not everybody has started yet. We look forward to seeing everybody’s impressions/experiences on their weblog.

Secondly, regarding the structure of the weblog we have the following request. A lot of the weblogs do contain interesting private experiences, but we would like to see a bit more!
Could you set up your weblog in such a way that it contains 3 parts:

1. In this part we would like you to give the reader a good impression of your company and your place/job in the company and your experience as an intern. If possible gives us an impression of your company by making a short movie in which you show and introduce your company, your office, your colleagues, your company mentor etc or at least publish a few pictures (but we prefer a short film).
2. The second part should contain the (interim) reports you have to write for school.
3. The third part is about your personal life, what are your experiences (living abroad). Of course, it is up to you what you want to share with the reader.

In the case that you don’t know how to arrange this you may contact Ms Eky Fioole.

Kind regards,

Joost FrenckenWorkplacement coordinator

Links to other blogs

Today I noticed that some of you encountered problems in linking to other blogs. This is partly due to the way Blogger presents their gadgets.
Linking to another blog easily becomes linking to the feedreader of an other blog.

If you want to make sure that you're linking to the blog of someone else, please check the following:
- log in to your own blog and click on the option Customize
- Choose the option Layout to change your pagesettings and links
- Click on Add a Gadget and choose the option: Link List
Be aware that one of the first options offered looks similar but only links to the feed of a weblog not the entire weblog.

- On the pop-up that follows, fill in the following options:
* Title: what name would you like to give to the functionality offered
* New site url: this is the url of the blog you are referring to
* New site name: how would you wish to present the name of the blog on your own blog
* Finish by clicking on save

Opening of the Workplacement Weblog

Dear students and participating teachers,

This is a pilot for working with what we call 'social software'.
Here is the first make-up of our new blog, with which we are going to communicate when students are going on a workplacement. This is usually, but not always(!) abroad.

All ins-and-outs are going to be explained here.

First we want to invite the new bloggers, the participating students who are creating their own blog. These new made blogs can and will be 'connected' to this central and generalistic blog.

Regards,
Eky Fioole, project leader
Ramon Mannie, project coordinator
Joost Frencken, workplacement coordinator
